The economics of change are upon us. I've been saying for years that HD needs to update the line. Outside of the V-Rod, nothing is new except engine displacement. You poor HD riders are growing old and the next generation of riders believe that HD products are exclusively for you. If HD would redesign the Sporty with something more modern (yes, including a water-cooled powerplant) then maybe that could be a reasonable start. I know that the emmission standards are being met with the air-cooled motor but eventually all thing change. HD has gotten away with selling the same basic structure of motorcycle design for over 50 years and the competition is making better bikes than 20 years ago. So, if HD doesn't get off their high-horse and start designing fresh renditions of their bikes the future will not play well for them. I don't expect sales to plummet, but cutting back an average of 10k+ bikes a year will not play well with stockholders. If retail bikes don't move the apparel business will soon follow. Then everything gets real sticky for HD.

You know that we can't go more than 4 days without a Harley thread. If there's nothing new then recycling the old one is obligatory.
