About time. Actually, there are good reasons to junk the entire CPSIA, but that won't happen.

Another non-issue. When was the last time an OHV was made of lead?

And we're not talking about the Flink either.

It is NOT a non-issue because whoever drafted the original legislation worded it such that the lead in the BATTERY caused it to fail the "too much lead to be safe for kids" test.

And then the regulators given the task of implementing the law were being ****s about it too.

The "regulators" (CPSC) had no choice. They suspended enforcement for two years to allow Con-gress to pass a revision.

The real chilling effect is not on kids' ATVs, though. The CPSIA mandated lead-free certification for ALL toys, even hand-made items sold by small-time craftsmen. This put everyone making items for children's use at risk, unless they could afford certification, and that is not cheap.

It also made no allowance for second-hand resellers, like thrift stores. All toys have been removed from them.

The big stores love this law. It put a lot of competition out of business.
