It appears to me that the biggest incentive to buy one of these 'newfangled' batteries is the remarkable reduction in weight.
F'rinstance, the MotoBatt (MBTX12U) I just bought for my Sprint ST (replacing a Yuasa YTX14-BS) weighs 10-1/2lbs (according to one site). The recommended 8-cell Ballistic is 1lb, 10oz.
It is also a couple of centimeters shorter in all three dimensions. Maybe in four, but only time will tell. :p
BUT, they are priced like women's swimwear. The smaller, the more expensive. I paid $60 for the MotoBatt, the Ballistic lists at a hundred dollars more.
So, not for me. Yet. I'll be watching, though, as I see this as an exciting new development in battery tech.
