Well that's good news of a sort...."slowing the rate of decline" in sales is probably the best they can do in this environment, and they're still ahead of (or behind?) the rest of the industry @ a 5% decline as opposed to the industry wide 10% decline...

Still pretty pathetic though, considering they were just about printing money a few years back. The downside of financing anyone with a pulse I guess.

Same old corporate BS:

“Harley-Davidson is making steady progress at executing its strategy to deliver results through focus,” says Keith Wandell, president and chief executive officer of Harley-Davidson, Inc. “We are seeing the benefits of our restructuring and continuous improvement activities reflected in our earnings performance.”

They're in the phase where they're creating "profits" and reducing "expenses" by shuffling numbers, cutting core insfrastructure, etc. I've seen it before. They'll be in Chapter 11 in 5 years.

If they'd said “Harley-Davidson is making steady progress at executing its strategy to deliver results through new product research and development, investment in manufacturing capacity and plants, patents in alternative fuel motorcycles" or something like that, they might have a story. They're just squeezing the last pennies out of what's left from their boom years.

Triple the Stock Price within a Year!!!!
