I borrowed my son's bike so I could ride in today. I have a 36 mile each way commute in Houston, about 33 of which is on I-10. I normally see 2-4 motorcycles on the freeway, but today, I saw ZERO on the freeway. I saw two on surface roads. Maybe it's because the high temperature is predicted to be 98 degrees today.

I managed to get the KHOU channel 11 morning traffic person to post something on her "traffic blog", but as far as I know there were no mentions of the event on TV.

There was a mention on the ridetexas.com forum that Houston mayor Annise Parker was supposed to officially recognize the event, but I haven't heard anything.

Two other guys rode in to my office today, but they ride pretty often anyway. I put up posters on all 4 floors, but I don't know if there are any other motorcyclists in the building besides the three of us. (There /have/ to be, don't there?)

Oh well... I have a year to figure out how to publicize the event better.

And I need to get my own bike... sold mine two years ago.

I know they do this ride to work day thingie each year. But it seems pretty fruitless. I've yet to see anyone pull their weekend only ride out.

Don't have to ride to work. I simply walk from one level of the house to the other and unlock a door. Tomorrow I will be figuring out the "Ride to Escape Work Day". It has something to do with leaving my sister in the office while I run to Deals Gap.

Why does this always fall on the hottest day of the year?

I'm working from home these days, anyway, so I rode around the garage.

I guess you're not a real rider. Please turn in your leather jacket with the fringes and conchos. Thank you.
