Happens all the time when any large Manufacturer of Durable Goods or Pharmaceuticals is looking to build a new factory. Sometimes, it even works-out OK.

If Texas or Georgia or any other State can provide a more friendly business environment then moving is just good sense. HD owes no special consideration to a State that sees business as merely a cash cow to soak for the benefit of looters and moochers.

Now that everybody is used to the idea of "THE" Milwaukee Company not being in Milwaukee anymore, HD can just pack it in and contract their manufacturing to the Chinese.

HD can KMA after the way they treated Eric, but HD isn't the only company dumping out of Wisconsin. Wisconsin needs a policy that encourages businesses to stay, not give special treatment to select corporations.

At least they don't foist exploding overpriced dirt bikes on the public. I guess there are worse companies than HD.

They're just pulling the same stuff my own employer pulled. Demand a never ending list of concessions from the state and union under the threat of relocating. In this case our Gov told them to shove it so they built a new production line in a right to work state.. Unfortunately the finished product has been well below our QA and FAA standards so the savings have been erased by having to basically re-manufacture each component up here.

Harley-Davidson will probably find themselves in the same boat, a nose dive in quality, fit and finish and a diminished reputation from their core customers. The biggest mistake they could make after cutting Buell who were there ticket to a younger market loose, would be to alienate their core market by diluting the brand.
