The motorcycle biz is no doubt in tough times, but BMW Motorrad USA is doing just fine, thanks very much for not asking. They posted a 52% increase* in 2/2010 sales compared to the same period last year.
The new S 1000 RR Superduperbike is selling like fifty-cent condoms at an Omega Phi keg party; with customers standing in line to hand over deposits. The GS "Adventure" series is sold out through the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (rumored to be 3rd quarter 2015), as crushed-vertebrae RUBs finally write off their "investment" in $42,000 customs and cash in what's left of their 401K's for a shot at Ewan McGregordom. Here's the link if you give a ****: BMW Motorrad USA ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ *(BMW US motorcycle sales for 2/09 totaled 8 bikes, the 52% increase brought 2010 sales to...at least a couple more)

Did you read in Motorcyclist that ATK is licensing the Hyosung road bikes and are working a deal to sell them in HD dealerships? Guess that UM deal with Hyosung is done.
As for BMW: Stellar! I think that Aprilia and Ducati will float through the season with little share loss and maybe even increase percentage vs last season.

No, but the Korean factory rep for Hyo told me the UM deal was done. He said they were building their own dealer network; I assume going to multi-line dealers like the one who was at Bike Week.

Not surprised BMW is doing well. The effort the company has put into their offering has paid off for them. They are covering all the bases and have a quality product. Long live BMW.
