If old cruz yurup wants a shining example of a company that is getting passed by, Honda is it. do they even remember when they were a leader in the motorcycle world?

Maybe the reference to 'goals' has something to do with them trying to shift their company towards a more 'respectable' company. Honda seems to be trying to lose it's boy racer image.

Maybe they want to be Toyota??

Honda is doing what it's always done.. using it's financial power to force a rules change that favors it over all others. Cooking rules is as old as racing.

After my latest experience with Japanese parts suppliers I'm probably going to join the Evil Empire and the Vicious Triumvirate of BMW/Triumph/KTM. If the Japanese are going to charge BMW prices for parts may as well own a BMW.
