I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all motorcycle riders who are Democrats for the hemmoraging loss of public lands to ride on. Thank you.

Yeah, I saw Carly Simon talking about this on Morning Joe. She pretty much demonized us off-road riders.

Joe S asked about here relationships with her new rural neighbors in Idaho. I get the feeling that not all was well there.

I only ride on the roads and racetracks. Why should I care that a few jerks who are busy destroying public lands with their OHV's get the land yanked out from under them. They're just a bunch of noisy polluters anyway, that kill fragile plants beneath their knobby-treaded tires.

Huh. Thought that bait was sufficiently stinky-enough to attract fish from all-over. Even thought KP might take a bite.

Oh, well...........

Actually, I am just tired of arguing about it.

Number One, I am not that good at articulating a vigorous defense, at least with the minimal time I have to spend here.

Number Two, I believe it is a lost cause. The widespread availability of kwads and the associated kwadidiots has doomed off-road/trail riding. We will never recover.

Combine this with Number Three, the political sea change, where the majority of the American people now believe that only the government can protect us from ourselves, and I just give up.

I send my checks to the BRC and AMA, participate in local events, help out when I can, and hope for the best.

At 52, my knees and other joints tell me I have a limited amount of riding to do anyway. My kids and my siblings' kids do not ride, so I really have no one to preserve it for.

15 years ago, I though I had about 5 years left to enjoy dirt riding. To my surprise, I am still riding today. It just costs more, and I have to drive farther.

Oops, It wasn't Carly Simon. It was Carol King. They called her a Hippy Chick.
