I was told years ago that the local bike shops did a good business fixing air-cooled motors that had burned up.
Apparently, crawling along for an hour(+) among hundreds of other pinheads is bad for the air-cooled bikes. Go figure! Oh, and wringing the throttle to impress the standers-by doesn't help, either.
