Myrtle Beach to New Orleans. Biker's go from seal level to below sea level. And we wonder where our reputaion comes from.

New Orleans! America's Only City Desperate Enough to Invite Motorcyclists!

And while you're there, be sure to take the Busted **** Tour (no pun intended), the Destroyed Neighborhoods Tour, and my personal favorite: the "Hurricane in the Super Dome Simulation Ride" (where you are inserted into a well used port-a-potty which is then rolled down the banks of the Missippi River). Don't forget the bignets and Cafe-au-Luait at Dumonts!

Only a week after the Jazz Festival!

Make a fortnight out of it!

Make sure you try a Muffellata sandwich from Central Grocery (in the 'Quarter)!

I'm thinking of doing Sturgis this year. I'm reluctant to get a job between my school and the USMC commitments. I have a few weeks of training to do, and I can do the 4 week summer school session. Maybe bum around with a tent between the two. Hmmm.

New Orleans is pretty far. Doubt I can afford it this time around, though I would like to see it. Of course, it would make sense to not visit during "bike week" if that were the case...

I've been to Sturgis a few times. It's an alright time. I really like going to the Black Hills when the rally is not going on. It's a lot easier to enjoy the riding. Course if you want to get plastered the rally is a good time to do that.

An old buddy Tommy Perkins decided to drive his V8 powered VW Beetle across the USA to Miami from Los Angeles back in 1974. He got into a fight in New Orleans and stabbed someone who tried to steal his car, got life without parole in the state pen in Metrie. Now I can see why that song "Truckin" by the Grateful Dead avoided New Orleans at all costs. Scary palce full of macumba and screwballs high on MDA.

You may be right. I want to see the battlefields and Mt. Rushmore more than the party. Maybe I should go a week before it starts and then just spend a day or two there.

I'm not really one for naked fat chicks going "WOOOOOOO!!!" anyways.
