"Roehr Motorcycles is a small volume manufacturer, located in Gurnee, Ill., building high performance American motorcycles."

With the price of them, small volume is an understatement. I'm only 50 miles from Gurnee, so maybe I'll stop in, say hi, and see how they boys are doing up there.

Ducati targets 500 1198r bikes in the US annually- they sell more, but that's the target. If Roehr can hit that number I think they could say that the initial run was successful. If they can't they will close the doors.

I don't see them producing that many in the first year. I wouldn't be surprised is it is only 100-200 bikes that they put together and send out to dealerships.

180 horse power? Someone's been spikin' the punch over in the dyno room. 180 HP for how long? 20 minutes? Before it sends the crank to China via a self-dug tunnel?

Right.

"Roehr Motorcycles is marketing the supercharged motorcycle directly to the V-Twin industry, enabling traditional V-Twin industry dealers to expand their customer demographic and tap into the growing high end sport bike market segment. "

They must have hired the former KTM VP of Marketing . The WORST POSSIBLE PLACE to market a sportbike is the "V-Twin" industry via "V-Twin industry dealers." They should be out courting dealers like Pure in Fort Lauderdale; they sell Ducatis, Triumphs, etc. Or even the mega dealers like Riva Motorsports. Geezus, did these guys ever walk into a HD dealership? Harley can barely sell VRods!!

Me too, really. But how do you pay your staff off of 200 bikes? Seems like you'd be working for free- kinda like I do.

Well, at 50 grand a pop that is $10 million in annual revenue. Not sure what the profit margin is, but I would think, at that price, there should be some sort of profit.

Good observation. They can't even get Harley dealers to sell Buells.

That's a shame, IMHO. The V-Rod is a really nice bike. Unfortunately, it doesn't look old and classic, and that is what Harley has built its reputation on.
