This is the same program they had in the early '80's when the 883 Sporty came out..$3999 otd-$3999 trade in, I almost bought one but they had a '78 XLH for $2500 so since I was paying cash I bought it instead.

It's a pretty good deal and a cheap way to get into a Harley though I doubt they're still $3999.........

While I didn't think that an HD would be in my future till several other things on my list had been accomplished I admit that I'll have to stop in around that time just to see what the trades in will be going out the door for. People can change, can't they? And plans are made to be changed, aren't they?

We were doing this when I worked at Rossmeyer's in 2004. It wasn't promoted, but two Sportys I sold traded back in for Big Twins at MSRP. Of course the buyer paid shipping, "prep" "dealer fees," and the taxes twice.

“This effort is driven by the uniquely strong value of Harley-Davidson motorcycles,”

Not to mention the serious margin in the bikes sold new...

This new program is like the one golf club makers have had for years and call it "Trade in Trade up" but H-D version is much better. If you can strike a good deal and you should because it is December and end of the year sales goals have to be made. I feel good with the deal I made and am glad to have a chance to move up without getting beat up on the trade. It was the right deal at the right time for me.

Yeah a serious margin. Good deal though for the owners that want to trade up.

It doesn't hurt that Sportsters are a nice ride.

Default Smart, smart

This is a smart move indeed. Many a hapless guy from Alabama are bound to think "hey I ain't gonna lose nuffin". Sure.

After a year you hear the constant rumble in their mobile homes as they are busy explaing their pregnant cousin-wives how it makes perfect sense to blow ten grand to upgrade to a full price "selected model".

What do you mean, Alabama, dude? HD sells more Sporties in Europe than the US. LOL! I think you mean "Pykies".
