Obviously not after going to the IMS and they only had the ridiculously priced motorcycle scooter thing as they only new ride.

I finally got to sit on a Versys at the Kawi tent, I want one. Been looking for a thumper as a runabout but the Versys looks to fit the bill perfectly. Just ugly enough to look cool. But its all a pipe dream as the wife looks to be getting laid off come the first...

At first I thought you said 'laid come the first'

Then I re-read it. It sucks that getting laid off is becoming so common now. My dad, father in law, and brother are all laid off. It's a good thing buildings need elevators or I'd be stuck.

PS. Honda is boring!!

Does this mean that Honda don't give a hoot?

Yes, but your business has ups and downs, too...

Default Sign o' the times

Just another sign of the times. Corporate America is making cuts left and right to save a sinking ship. Kinda reminds me of the Titanic. You cannot have that much greed and excess without paying the piper at some point.

For Honda, cancelling the Honda Hoot is akin to my wife's company cancelling the annual Christmas... ahem... "holiday" party. It'll save a little bit, but that's just a drop in the bucket of a billion dollar business.

I wonder if Honda is in deeper than they are letting on? They bailed on F1. They could run the ama program for ten years with a years worth of that money.

Soichiro Honda stated very clearly that motorcycles were a means to an end: selling cars in the US. I think it's pretty clear that as their car business has grown, their corporate interest in and focus on motorcycles has dwindled away.

12er nailed it with: "Obviously not after going to the IMS and they only had the ridiculously priced motorcycle scooter thing as they only new ride."

BTW: the Versys was a really close contender for my bucks when I got the VStrom. Very neat bike, just a bit too small for my taste, but I'm sure I would have loved it if I had gotten one. With saddlebags it looks just like a 7/8 scale Multi-Strada.

Greed? Excess? Surely you jest. I hope you realize the CEO of my company had to get by on a mere $127,000,000.00 in 2007. I don't know if you've ever tried to keep up with the bills on $347,945.20 a day, but I can tell you, it's not easy. In fact, it's so tough, Jeff and his pals had to sell or try to sell off various profitable divisions of the company so they could inflate the stock value in 08 and bump up those bonuses even more. Keeping groceries in the pantry at home is much more important than having the GE brand on home appliances, plastics, and other basic industrial products. We can always just buy them from the Chinese, so who cares? I sure hope for 2008 they aren't going to take the 2/3 drop in the valuation of the company out on management and cut their pay. It's not like it's their fault!
