Kinda hard to plunk down 10+ large on a bike that you never got to ride. I would never buy a bike without a test ride. I don't care what the mags say about a bike, I'm going to judge for myself after a nice long cruise on the thing.

I also agree, it would be hard paying that much for something I could'nt test ride aswell. However it's pretty difficult to sell a bike as a new bike that has had a nice long cruise on it.

The dealer I worked for in Hawaii used to demo out a few popular models for test rides. It wasnt until moving to Florida that I realized test rides where so limited in the states.

“For example, making customers aware before they arrive at the dealership why they can or cannot test ride a particular motorcycle may help brands convert more shopper visits into sales."

So, if you pull into the dealership and see a big sign that says: "NO FU<KING TEST RIDES!" you're more likely to buy. Makes sense to me.

Before we even get to the demo rides, I would just settle for a sales guy that didn't act like an ass. No offense to MOKE or Ace.

Or, at the very least, knew the product he was selling. I have been to dozens of dealerships in multiple states and I could probably count a decent sales guy that knew what he was talking about on one hand...and that hand may not have all of its digits...

I think I sold 3 bikes while waiting for the financing to be approved when I bought my BMW. I had many more answers about the bikes for fellow customers than the sales staff.

No test rides = fewer sales, eh? I hope no one got paid to discover this. This ranks right up with the Time mag cover a few years ago that said "Science Proves: Men And Women Are Different!" I hope no one got paid for that gem either.

Well let's see....We once had UC Irvine burn a $150,000 grant trying to determine whether beer advertising encouraged people to drink beer.

And then the best of all was a few years ago, a 1.5 MILLION dollar transportation grant was allocated to a company that ran boats between Oceanside and San Diego to determine if it was feasible to commute that way.

The boats held a whopping 50 people and on a good day took an hour to get to San Diego (not counting the commute time to get to Oceanside and park). On the rougher days it could take 3 Hours to get to San Diego (it's about 30 miles).

After the money was burned, it was decided that this was not an effective way to commute.

Don't get me started on the 450 MILLION we just spent on a Light Rail line that goes 26 miles from East to West when all the traffic goes North and South here.

I dunno, Buz...

Last time I flew into San Diego, the new neighborhoods looked like they reached Yuma!
