I've done the Skip Barber High Performance Driving School in Boxsters and Carerra's at Laguna Seca, and it was fantastic. I've also done Freddie Spencer's high performance motorcycling school at Las Vegas, and it was great, also. Obviously, they're completely different animals.

It will be interesting to see how they staff this superbike school. The quality of the staff and curriculum will make or break this as a serious motorcycling school. Laguna Seca was fantastic in Carerra's, but I would think it would be a little bit scary for a superbike school -- especially high-zoot, big twins. The Spencer school was on CBR600R's, and they were plenty fast for a school, on a flatter and much easier set of tracks. Wheelie-ing over the crest of the corkscrew could ruin your whole day.

In any event, it's certainly a very serious and credible setup and more choice is always better for the consumers. I wish them all the luck in the world.

If they run this as well as the car classes, it will be outstanding. I lucked out and got a free trip to the Skippy 3-day Car Control class at Sebring. It was incredibly complete, and the instructors were top-notch. In fact, my instructor was Vic Elford of Porsche racing fame.

Good luck to them! I'll have to ping my contact with Skip Barber and see if I can schmooze a bike class (probably not, but it never hurts to ask).

I think a school using 1190 RC8 KTMs at Laguna brings more than one meaning to the term, 'launches Superbike'.

Apparently they start with a session on "Shifting."
