VHT! I'm 90% sure that is the brand I used. Great stuff.

The car guys have been using that stuff forever.

I don't know what Suzook is thinking with that crappy finish they put on their pipes. That "before" photo was when the bike was a few weeks old. It's some bronze colored finish that looked bad from day 1.

Many thanks!

Longride and KM, thanks for the info! I'll give it a shot and let you know how it works.

Thanks to all for advice on painting my pipe. As promised, here are some before and after pics. I used the VHT FlameProof brand flat black. The flat black looked closeset to the color on the Buell exhaust.

Nice! What's the green part? Did you use another color for effect?

Leftover painter's tape. I wanted to keep the shiny stainless steel tip, well... shiny.

It's smart to just paint it. The chrome underneath a bike is awful hard to maintain anyhow. Unless you are one those guys who spends more time polishing than riding. I'd bet not.

Then there was the dope who forgot to take the painter's tape off the chrome part of the mufflers after painting the rusty endcaps of a Harley exhaust. It's amazing what a gooey mass of crap painter's tape turns into when it gets hot. I've heard.
