Default Well I tried.........

When I bought the bagger I thought "I'm going to do it right this time, just like the Trophy..spendy oil, frequent oil changes the whole shebang"...Well I tried, for the 1k oil change I used genuine Mobil 1 V Twin full synthetic, now I'm coming up on 5k and I'm thinking it's really only 4k on the oil so I'll wait another thou..after all it is synthetic oil..Then I gets to thinking, the ol' Trophy ran just as good on diesel oil as it did on motorsikkle oil, shifted just as good, no clutch issues and the Harley oil is strictly in the motor no gear shear or slippery clutches....

.....AAAAaaand they even recommend diesel oil if you can't obtain Genuine Harley oil..well brothers and sisters, @ $13. a quart for Syn3 and $7. a quart for HD dino oil I can guarantee I won't be obtaining it anytime soon, even Mobil 1 is $9.00 a quart.. so that was that I'm afraid, back to good old Shell Rotella T 15w40 @ $12.00 a gallon, if it's good enough for 150,000 mile oil change intervals in long haul turbo diesels it should be good enough for 5k in my bike. a Genuine Harley Davidson oil filter rounds it out and miles of happy motoring to follow...

I've ran it in most bikes I've owned after I get tired of paying for full synthetic and motorcycle specific oils. Besides it's cold out, I doubt I'll be stressing the oil anytime soon. Don't tell anyone though, if you don't use factory oil in your bike it could blow up, catch fire and break through the ice all at the same time !!!!

Very clever way to start an oil thread.

It's almost KPesque.

Everbody knows synthetic oil causes bearing slip and keeps the rings from seating!

(bzzzzz, plonk, reel reel reel)

Every other M/C web site has an oil thread, why should we miss out. The only concern I have is whether or not it's a Group 1V paleo-orfin based long chain semi- synthetic or a straight Group 11 di-ethylester mineral based Dino smoosh...

How does Amsoil stack up against it?.......

I prefer castor bean oil. Heating up the engine before starting it in the winter is a bit of a problem though. But, all those other oils you guys use suck. Only the best for me. I get 650,000 miles between oil changes and it increases performance by 50%!

OIL THREAD!

Woo-hoo! Where's the popcorn!

For my part, I use the Mobil 1 15W-50 from Wally-World. I think it's five quarts for $20.

I tried synthetic oil in a bike once. Worked well for a while, but 5 years later...BAM! Herpes.
