Default 86 Sporty

My brother has an 86 1200 Sporty that he bought new and has done a grand total of 10K in the last 20 odd years. I'm pretty sure he'd part with it if I offered the cash and I know its history etc but is it likely gonna need rebuilding or just a big service? He has turned it over every 3 months or so - so it will run but if it needs too much, I may as well spend a bit more and get a 2000 model with more miles.

Only 10K miles? Should be just fine.

Change the oil, check or just go ahead and replace the fuel and air filters, and you should be ready to go engine wise. The tires may be dry-rotted and/or hardened by now. They can get slick if they sit for years. If you're getting a decent price, it should be fine! Besides, it's your brother...you can always tell Mom on him if it's a lemon.
