Smile 1996 R1100RT preventive maintenance

Hello ! I own a 1996 R1100RT with 70.000 kms use. In the past year I have started replacing some main parts. , the starter motor, filter bag of the gas pump, rear rotor(wornout), silencer (the flute came out) spark plugs cables and the last major replacement was the complete gear box. One of the bearings in the main shaft failed and all the pinions were damaged. So I decided to replace the entire gear box.
I am embarking on a long trip ( from Guayaquil , Ecuador to Buenos Aires, Argentina which will be around 16K kms. The bike is running fine, however, I am afraid somewthing would fail in the trip.
Anyone that has an old RT would give what preventive maintenance should I put the bike thru ??
Regards

1.Change all fluids and filters.
2.Install new spark plugs and wires.
3.Inspect brake pads and bleed hydraulic systems, and if possible, replace the rubber hoses with braided steel.
4.Torque the head bolts to 14 ft. lbs. in a cross-hatch pattern.
5.Repack wheel bearings, check wheels for trueness, install new tires and/or tubes.
6.Discard the Bimmer and take a plane.

Unscew the gas cap, hold it high in the air & replace everything underneath it with a 10 year old Honda XL650.

You might also want to install some saddle bags, and fill them with with $50.00 bills, for the border guards in Peru.

Good luck.

Wait. You've only got about 43K miles and you've had to replace the gearbox, rear rotor and starter motor?

So much for Beemer superiority.

Probably because he can't SAY "Pump Inlet-Filter Sock".

"But I can't SAY 'Sylvester', George!"
