10W-40 may or may not have the friction additive package that messes up the clutch.

Easiest way to tell is if the oil has "Energy Conserving" printed on the bottle. If it does, don't use it in your bike.

No way to know for sure except by trial and error.......because they are allowed a small amount of friction modifiers without noting it on the label.

Absolutely true but if it does NOT have the EC star label, you don't know if it will be all right or not.......as noted above.

Just buy the damn motorcycle oil. They sell it at WalMart.
