Default Motoplat problems

Rick's '83 490 Sand Spyder Maico fell over and crushed the kill button against the clutch lever, we tried stratting it for about an hours worth of pushing, towing, bump starting before we discovered the kill button was grounded out.

Disconnected the kill switch, no spark. Motosplats are difficult to diagnose at best, we checked all the grounds, connecitons, etc. Did a resistance test with a DVOM that checked out, still no spark.

Anybody out there in MO land have some good Motoplat info they can share?

Thanks,
Matt

A complete guess, Matt, but does the kill switch work by cutting power? As in, it is normally closed; when you push it, it opens?

"Normal" kill switches work by completing a ground. Maybe the Maico isn't the same.

Again, a complete WAG.
