Not necessarily. Just a little less "flutter".

If you goof-up the connections and open the wrong valve at the wrong time on the Mercury unit, you can draw the Mercury right into the engine. While no fluid is compressable, Mercury is less-so in that it doesn't disperse itself easily. That glob will essentially "stay together" all the way past the valves and into the cylinder, where it will take-up space in the combustion chamber, possibly bending valves and/or a connecting rod.

It's also toxic, and even moreso when combusted; in the "lucky" chance that the engine escapes physical damage, the Mercury will sit there, slowly evaporating and poisoning every living thing in its exhaust, until it's "used up".

I'm not saying don't use it - they're used every single day. I'm just saying BE AWARE of what you are doing with it.

You can build your own vacuum gauge for $10, and it will be extremely accurate.

Fun Facts to Know and Tell!

Thomas Jefferson wrote that the 1st Amendment erected a "wall of separation" between the church and the state (James Madison said it "drew a line," but it is Jefferson's term that sticks with us today). The phrase is commonly thought to mean that the government should not establish, support, or otherwise involve itself in any religion.

Its.......A FACT!
