I'd be curious to check out the undercarriage for a leak. Not sure if the exhaust may show signs of burning oil, but it had to go somewhere. Get someone to sit on the bike & lean it slowly to the side of the oil window, you may just be low enough to not get a reading at level. Good luck!

As Cuddy stated earlier, the engine is very well built.

You probably have a fuel or ignition problem.

If you do have a bad motor, it'll almost certainly be cheaper to find another motor out of a salvage bike than what it'd cost you to rebuild.
