Default 1973 Cb 500 Shifts Hard

My bike wants to either shift hard under a load or wants to slip gears, any help to diagnose problem would be appreciated, thanks

You mean the gears slip or the clutch slips?

Check your clutch cable adjustment. If it's good then you need to pull the clutch cover off and inspect the clutch plates. If the clutch is good then the tranny is getting ready to blow.

You've got the last year of the 450 twin series that got bored out to 500cc. The transmissions were crap on the 450, with a split-layshaft assembly that also housed the kick-start spring, gear and ratchet. Dump that stone before it quits shifting all together. You have been warned.
