Default 85 Goldwing 1200 GL

Anyone every heard of replacing the alternator on a motorcyle with one from a car? Seems it has been done but I have been unable to find out much info about the details...I have a 1985 g/wing 1200 GL, it has to have a new alternator as I have been told, not sure how to dismandle the bike to get to it ........any advice??? thanks!

You need a manual and a full set of tools because you have to remove the engine to replace the alternator.

Google for any data on car alternators in Glodwings. It's actually not a bad idea since the alternator is a known trouble issue in the GL1200.
