Have replaced broken magnet in speedo housing by front wheel...speedo dial now moves but registers 100kph when I'm doing 50kph - mileage is also clocking up twice as much as it should. The housing is free of bits of broken magnet - does the whole housing and cable array (and dial?) also need replacing?

If it's anything like the Bandit there's a four pronged rotor that drives the speedo, if you only have two or three prongs it will only read 1/2 or 3/4 of the correct speed. Whatever set up drives your speedo, (and I have no idea what that may be) appears to be off by 1/2. Did you match up the old part to the new? it sounds like you have a different ratio on the new one that's cutting your reading in half...

You could just install the Smegma speedo.

I wouldn't be caught Dead wearing a Speedo and riding a Volusia. I don't see what the "problem" is..................
