Default Stirring another pot

I ran across this interesting article from Oz.

Honda Fireblade - Muffler comparison - MCNEWS.COM.AU

Notice that half of the aftermarket cans result in less than stock hp and that they rate the stock muffler better than most of the accessories.

The moral? Don't alter your system unless you are willing to spend the $ on remapping/rejetting. Even the best pipe only gave an negligible increase of 3.5 hp = less than 2%.. and only at full redline. You decide if it's worth several hundred simoleans.

This is why a chuckle at people with loud pipes that obviously have not been rejetted.

Holy crap, it's worse that I thought. Not only do they not improve anything, in most cases they made less HP and torque.

Good post, very interesting study.

So, be honest and say to yourself and friends: I'm buying the exhaust because I like the sound and it looks good. Nothing wrong with that!

The fancy exhaust is called the Obamapovic. It cost a lot of money and offers no benefit whatsoever.

There was a similar test done by Motorcyclist in the 80's that used full exhaust systems. All were done on a KZ650 and run several runs at a dragstrip. Similar results. Only a couple of pipes resulted in quicker times in spite of the fact that all the aftermarket pipes were substantially lighter than stock. Most were slower than stock.

Oh cut it out. If you were half as smart as Obamalama, you could be a community organizer too.

You'd have to be a total maroon to ditch a stock Ti system for some pile o' shyte alloy can in the first place, then loose HP to boot...............

They'll probably sell a million of 'em ROFLMAO...
