exup "tunes" the exhaust for better low and midrange power while retaining the top-end; usually incompatible goals. If you tear it out to put in an aftermarket exhaust, you'll get a lot of high end track power, but your bike will suck on the street.
Talk to the exhaust dealers tech people and/or the exhaust manufacturers tech support. They'll tell you which slips ons are ok w/o remapping and which aren't.

Yamaha has been building EXUP exhaust for bike for 20 years. The valve builds back pressure, which builds power. Some companies adapt modern exhaust without it becaue they know that re-mapping isn't difficult. I believe you don't mess with technology that is proven. I would buy a "can" designed for the EXUP before I consider removing it.

The valve in most of the units is in the mid-pipe. I'd check Leo Vince and Yoshimura first. Then I'd check out White Bros.
