Bullet 500's output is 24 BHP while Pulsar 220 having a much smaller engine capacity has 21 BHP. I find it surprising. Now, can Bullet 500's BHP be increased without compromising it's durability? If yes how to go about it?

I'm afraid the Bullet's reliability is about as compromised as it's going to get right out of the box. If HP and reliability are what you're after you'd be better off buying a small used Japanese bike.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I'd rather have the Bullet and work on it.

was never a bajaj fan..but bullet is also a bit heavy on maintainence..but i suppose unit construction lean burn engine of machismo 500 would cut down maintainence..
