Is this part of the recovery process...as in maybe someday stuff will work again? Or just the bones are healed and they don't need the brace anymore?

I'll get the feature fixed after I finish up on the GM deal.

Following my post last weekend about installing AdMore Lighting's new Lite Bar, a few readers were kind enough to point out: "hey stupid, you covered your license plate." Given the state of traffic control here in South Florida (there isn't any), it's pretty unlikely that the cops would go to the trouble of making a stop over it. Not to mention the fact that most of the squid bikers here have their license plates tucked so far up their fender eliminators you'd have to pull their pants down to read them. But, being a Beta Tester is a grave responsibility, and in the interest of giving this terrific product it's due, I really needed to fix the problem. Besides, it'd be just my luck to cross paths with a gung-ho rookie cop who takes his responsibilities as seriously as I do mine.
I needed to move the plate down a bit, while still retaining the handy mounting position and easy wiring hook-up that made the installation so easy last weekend. I have these two hardware boxes I've been filling up for a decade or so with every odd and end that was left over after reassembly or upgrades on the houses, cars and bikes. I found a garden variety "L" bracket, about 2" on each side, with two holes all ready to go. First I squashed it flat in the vice, then sawed it in half. It got a good going over with a metal file to give it that vital Custom Touch, followed by a drippy layer of black spray paint in the hope that they wouldn't be too obvious. I know, the guys who go out to their garage and turn a billet of aluminium into a custom wheel hub with a Dremel Moto Tool are laughing right now, but hey, clay ashtrays is about as far as I got in shop class. The next step was to pop the Lite Bar out of the bracket and back out the bolts that hold the bracket in place. Then I slipped the custom license relocation units into position and re-inserted the mounting bolts. The license plate and frame mounted right up the the lower two holes; once they were in place, the Lite Bar went back in. For a normal person this whole process would probably take 20 minutes; I manged to stretch into an hour and a half. It doesn't look too bad!
