Red face '81 KAW LTD 440 D2 belt dr. self centering steering?

I wanted to see if anyone knows if a 1981 kawasaki LTD 440 D2 BELT Drive has self centering steering. If not something is wrong with my steering.

Most bikes DO want to continue in a straight line of their own-accord (when in motion, of course) BUT - you might have the steering-head bearings going out. One symptom is the feeling of a "detent" or "roughness" in the steering. They're not difficult to change, just a bit time-consuming, and you have to find some way to "hold up" the bike and allow you to disassemble the front end.

Look up your model here: All Balls Racing

I checked the bearings by putting the bike up on a center stand and everything seems OK except for when it passes the center point. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a self centering steering like that?

One (or more) of the balls has worn itself a "detent" in the bearing race.

It's quite common.
