Question Honda 919

I have an 04' 919! i took the stickers on the tank off, but there is still something still on the tank! It's like a plastic layer, but I cannot tell if its above or below the paint! I'm clueless on how to remove it??? I tried wd-40, goo-be-gone, simple green, heat-gun, and nothing! NEXT STEP??

a belt sander with a very light touch............

if it's below the paint then obviously yer' screwed.... above the paint you might try Zepp Orange Glow citrus degreaser available at Home Depot and Lowes etc. let it sit and work on it till it comes off. A heat gun will soften it up first.

Use a sharp edge, like a fingernail, to determine if the foreign substance is on top of the clearcoat/paint.

If it is, then you can try the above ideas, or maybe clay.

If it isn't, and I suspect it may be the clearcoat/paint, discolored (or protected from the UV by the stickers), you are stuck.

That's why I peel all the stickers off the paint as soon as I get the machine home. Our intense Florida sun will cause all sorts of mischief with decals and other stickers.

Good luck!

It's probably just a chemical reaction between the paint and the sticker glue. There's really nothing you can do except sand and repaint. Doesn't the 919 have flat black finish? Shouldn't be hard to duplicate.

It's either the glue for the stickers, or there was a matt-finish clear coat over the stickers that you removed with the graphics. If the latter, you might have a problem.
