Yes it will make it louder, yes it will void the warrenty and yes it'll make it run bad,

Don't forget the fact that everyone will think you're a peckerhead too...that's an added bonus!

Sarnali is terminally impolite, but he is also correct. Leave it stock at least through the warranty period. Extra noise won't give extra performance, quite the opposite. The engine is in too mild a state of tune to benefit much even if a full re-jetting job is done. Best to avoid the possible fines for using an altered system.

They are correct, to some extent. Removing the baffles will make it run poorly. The only thing you'll get is alot of noise. On another point, it does "not" void your warranty. However if any problem occurs due to you removing the baffles, that would not be covered by the Manufacture.

As everyone is saying: just pounding out the baffles will make it run like crap. You have to change the intake if you change the exhaust. There are several options, including pipes with matching ECU chipsets, or programmable ECUs that you can play with.

Having said that, it will never sound like a Harley. I'm sorry, it won't. Here's an interesting link, they'll "tune" your factory pipes for a hundred bucks:

Modified factory OEM exhaust systems for the Honda VTX 1800 & 1300

$200+ for .5 more hp. What a deal. Or .5 less. Who knows?

At least they don't make any claims.

Default Fire On The Flightdeck!

Screw the HD noise, for that Pratt & Whitney R2800 sound you want to cut the pipes off about 3-4 inches from the exhaust port, and then paint the inside of the pipes red with flameproof paint. A nice bologna cut makes for a cool look, and sound. Don't worry about that cracking/snapping noise when the bike cools off, as MOE said it won't void the warranty, and you'll get some nice new exhaust valves every few hundred miles for FREE!

There is quite a bit of that around here.

Ya think maybe we scare people off?

Regarding your 'Tropic Thunder' avatar, pp... I still haven't decided if I liked that movie or not. It certainly had some entertaining bits, but after it was over, I almost felt like I'd wasted a couple hours of my life. Mind you, it certainly was no 'Major Paine', but still...
