Holy ****e, Seruzawa gets five bonus points for coming up with Ernst Roehm.

Now, I could make a tasteless Night of the Long Knives reference here, but I'll refrain.

"moved" as in not in the same place it was 5 minutes ago or "moved" as in emotionally touching like Rohm shouting Heil Hitler when Eicke shot him

As a motorcyclist for over 40 years and someone who has owned at least 30 Hondas over the years, I am truly saddened by Honda’s 2009 lineup - and frankly - their lineup over the past 5 or 6 years.

Honda used to be the leader in motorcycle engineering and innovation, but no longer. Apparently they are selling enough cars, lawnmowers, generators and outboard motors that motorcycles just don’t matter anymore.

A few months back, Dave Edwards of Cycle World Magazine was praising the new CBR1000RR, but was asking the hypothetical question: Where’s the excitement in the rest of the Honda lineup? He noted that “Coming soon!” was one Honda insider’s reply.

But where is it? The Rebel 250 in a new paint color? Bold new graphics for the XR650L? The same Gold wing that they’ve been selling for a half dozen years - but now with XM Satellite radio? A CRF230 with a smaller front wheel and street tires to cater to the SuperMoto crowd? You’ve got to be kidding?

And don’t even get me started about the DN01! Whether you love the styling or hate it - when was the last time you saw a 680cc V-twin anything selling for $14,500? They might sell a few at $7K or perhaps $8K - but $14,500?

The problem is apparently Honda of America, because Honda sells a pretty decent lineup of bikes in Europe and elsewhere around the globe, but apparently American Honda believes that Americans aren’t smart or sharp enough to care. Don’t believe me? Look at Honda UK’s website and see the difference for yourself!

Meanwhile the other Japanese manufacturers continue to build and import wonderful machines to the USA, not to mention Triumph, BMW and even Ducati!

As for me, I’ll just keep riding my ancient Honda Hawk GT until I eventually get bored and go looking for something new and interesting.

Hmmm - I was thinking about a new SV650 Suzuki, but that new Triumph 675 Speed Triple looks pretty slick - and now with the Daytona suspension on the R model! Sign me up!

All I can say is Mr. Honda must be spinning in his grave - at 17,000 RPM!
