New, need advice on buying.
Hi everyone. I joined a couple of weeks ago but haven't posted anything yet :p Don't be fooled by the username, I'm a lady rider!

I just got my motorcycle endorsement, took the safety course, and am excited to get my first bike. I was looking at a 93 Vulcan 750 with 17,700ish miles on it. It looks like it's been babied, and really well taken care of.

He's asking $2250 and that seems pretty reasonable to me. What do you think?

You can't go much wrong for $2200. Take it (or have the seller) to a competent mechanic, and have it gone over.

Kelley Blue Book is $2400 and some change, so the price is reasonable. Be aware it may need servicing, maybe new tires. Although that all adds up, the price is still pretty good.

That is, if a Vulcan 750 is what you want. I'd say it's a good bike to learn on, and you won't lose much when (if) you decide to sell it.

Please invest in some quality safety gear (hat/jacket/gloves/boots)!

Good Luck!

Don't mind KenMoore - he's our Resident Stalker, but he's essentially harmless.

Just don't take him up on his offer to watch Gladiator movies..........

I know a couple of fairly new women riders who have the Vulcan 900 and love them. If the 750 fits you -- that is, if you can reach the controls, and if you can turn the bars from lock to lock without stretching -- it should be ok for a beginner bike. The one concern I have is that it is a relatively heavy bike, so unless you have decent upper body strength, you may want to look at something lighter.

Thanks for the words of wisdom! Don't worry, I fully intend to get all of the good gear. Hard headed or not, my skull isn't as tough as that pavement :)

I'm 5'6" and pretty fit, so I think the 750 should be ok. I'm going to take a look today and will take a quick ride on it.

I'll let y'all know how it goes!!
