![]() While this clip from Jay Leno's Garage is 'elementary,' there may be some folks out there that might benefit.
The stat that most riders are wearing the wrong size or shape helmet is not surprising to me. Obviously, this video is Arai-centric, but the information applies to all brands of helmet. I've talked with Bruce a couple of times at the IMS's I attended. He is a wizard. He will usually tell you what size noggin you have before he measures you. His guess is almost always within a centimeter. http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/video_player.shtml?vid=283819 There are three things about an Arai hat that make me a believer. First, they make several 'shapes' to accomodate folks with different skullforms. Second, the hats are of a very high quality. Third, the Signet I was wearing in May of 2003 saved my life. They are, however, not inexpensive.

![]() I used to just buy any old crappy Shoei or other lowbrow wannabe helmet, but now I am cool because I too use an Arai.
Actually the reason I bought it was based on a chart of helmet weights I found and the Astral was the lightest of the major brands. The shape fits my head better, it's much more comfortable and I really like the lighter weight. For that reason I've stopped using the flip-up helmets as well. As far as I'm concerned low weight is as important as fit. An added bonus is that it came in plain white instead of those overblown racerboy grahics.

![]() I have an Arai Melon. My Quantum F is getting to be about 6 years old and due for a change. The rubber bonding strip around the bottom edge of the lid is starting to come loose on my last ride, starting to get a slight bit of slop from the cheek pads etc. No other lid fits as well, so money well spent for me.

![]() I like Arai's for the graphics, however I have a Shoei head. My Multitek fits my bean like a glove (that smells really bad after a summer of sweatin in it) I do wish I was smart like saruzawa and got a white one instead of the black, probably run a little cooler...next time I will..

![]() Helmets good!
But Non has no need for Helmet. Non's head is super strong like the head of a Boeing engineer and Non uses heat vision to melt oncoming traffic. Free Arai helmets for all Zod/Non voters! |

![]() The Nolan I got at Bike Weak has turned out to be a good lid. I do get the occasional smart remark about "Power Ranger gear," but they're just jealous.
I wonder how they figured out that 8 out of 10 riders have the wrong size lid...roadblock and spot checks done jointly with IIHS?

![]() You know, after looking around, that is a pretty impressive site with really good video.
Say what you want about Leno's comedy or his milquetoast personality, but he's got a pretty good site. |

![]() You gotta love a gearhead!
Seems to me that, even with all his money, he's still a 'guy's guy.'
