Cool Schemin' away here.....

So.... not too long ago I decided I wanted a Road Glide, I looked at a bunch of other bikes but the 'Glide is the one...not wanting to make two bike payments I figured I'd sell the Bandito Grande`, use that money and my Dyna for a trade and bob's yer' uncle, off I'd go..

I sold the Bandit alright, checked out an '06 RG with 5k miles, nice shape for $17k, great 'cept it had Reinharts and an SE air cleaner and SERT. Well.. I like stock bikes and don't want to deal with someone elses sledgehammer work.... I had my sales associate run some numbers on an '08....all said and done my monthly would go up around $100. on the bike, minus the $48 the Bandito was costing me on insurance, so doable without much pain and really the bike I've wanted for years, however.......

I totally love my Dyna, the way I've set it up is quite frankly the cats meow, looks great, comfy as a couch and just a cool f*ckin' ride all the way around, kind of a '70's chopper/bobber look, all black n' shiney..just looks right. I am loathe to get rid of it, specially since I'll lose a couple of grand on the deal. I can use the $4k I was going to put down for other things, keep the Dyna and save the $50 a month, most likely find an Evo bagger someone is trying to firesale and be good to go...

The other side of the coin is of course the RG is fuel injected 96 incher, with ABS Brembo's, nifty HD bags, cruise control, jams and also comfy as a couch with a windshield and fairing to hide behind in the 9 mos's of crap weather we get here, I can put lowers and a trunk on there and basically park my SUV unless it's snowing......

Anyway, tough call, I guess I'll see how the deal plays out.....

Rent one for a weekend and see if it's what you really want. Or keep the dyna and rent a RG whenever you want something bigger.

20 grand buys a lot of rental with no maintenance or insurance ever and no depreciation.

What would I do? I'd keep the Dyna. I've never been big on the touring rigs and you are adding another 125-ish lbs, at least, when getting the RG. I've always liked the stripped down look that you can add luggage and a shield to.

Besides, you are going to need that 4 grand to purchase the V-Storm that you are pretending you aren't going to get.

Hey look, I can log in. What a novelty.

Are you sure you want a heavier bike? After all, you only have 61BHP you know.

Sarnali,

Buy the Convertible windshield for when the weather really sux, and get a good set of bags for it.

If you're really jones'n for the 96 (or bigga), HD is still selling Jim's motors for a pretty good price. Then you can sell your stock mill.

Buy what you love. If you don't, you'll always be sorry.

Not that I'm considering a purchase, but that Street Glide shore is purty!

A buddy has one in Cobalt Blue, with lots of shiny bits. NICE looking bike!

'Course, it takes him all day to clean it...

I had a 2005 road glide. It was a comfortable bike, sounded great and was excellent for touring.

However, since the wife STILL didn't want to ride on the back of it, it didn't like to lean as much as I do, and it weighed enough to make pushing it around (or picking it up, *cough*) a pain in the ass I chose to get rid of it in favor of something a little lighter and more nimble. If I could have afforded to keep it *and* get the Tuono, I probably would have.
