EVERYONE

CRASHES

AT

SOME

POINT.

Wasn't there a shootout/review on MO a while back that was delayed because of an accident? It might happen now, it might be the first time i was on a dirt bike and flew into a tree. *ahem* or it might be when your 65. Don't tell me that not everyone falls, drops, "Lays 'er down," hits, gets hit, runs over a gopher or otherwise has an "accident" at some point in their life. PERIOD. Until you start talking to every motorcycle on their death bed you can keep assuming and you know what assuming does.....

I've been in 3 bike accidents. Hit a tree my first time on my cousins CR, first time on a bike period. Tossed my Dads CB into a drainage ditch at a weird angle and high sided, had a break cable snap on my grandads CL100 and went for a nice ride on the dirt. No, I don't ride on the road (yet) but that doesn't mean I havn't fallen the first thing my dad told me when i got on the CR is "Oh, you wont fall" riding around the yard..." Famous last words, head first, no helmet, my head met a tree.

"Hi how you doing, I'm wood. 100 years old and well, I win." Yea that felt good. (yea i know stupid mistake, shorts and tshirt, no helmet, throttle stuck, bang. My brother started riding the Mini trail (didn't have it in the family when i was a kid) recently and my dad gave him a helmet, denim jacket and gloves. This time he said "your going to crash. You just will." atleast he was prepared. You tell people they might not crash and it turns into (in their head) "I WONT crash" and gives them a superman complex.

My fiance was 22 before her first car accident, thats 5 years no problem, some guy clipped her drivers side fender with the big ass metal fender on his truck and destroyed the front corner of her car. He ran off. Was it his fault? no. but she was in an accident none the less. two of my three crashes really wern't my fault, snapped the break cable and stuck throttle. Still, crashes.

Oh my I've been a lot of things! I still haven't decided what my career is...

Frankly, I'm much more than 'just' a motorcyclist; but aren't we all?

Your obsession with crashing/dropping/biting the dust is tedious at best, if you're that worried about it don't ride. If you do decide to ride, wear whatever gear you're comfortable with and do it. Nobody likes a preacher.

no, not you. Captain crunch seems to be obsessed with crashing, personnally I get sick of hearing about it from him or anyone else. accidents happen, sometimes you're in the wrong place at the right time, sometimes you walk away from it, sometimes you don't. endless obsessing over it gets old quick. I've lost friends on bikes, I've had friends disabled and I've been injured myself. It's all part of life, you could have a heart attack on a golf course just as easily. No one gets out of here alive so f'n deal with it and move on ......

Default To Crash or not to Crash...

That is the question. I crashed so many times, I've lost count, there was that time on the Taco 99 when the front wheel came off, then the Valmobile incident that ripped up a nice pair of chinos, the Buick, Datsun and the SUV, the loop out on that hill where the seat came off my Jawa 90 and I lost all the tools, the BSA crash, the time I crashed into a car, a bike and a dog all at the same time. Hell crashing is part of riding. Crash to live, live to crash.

But there are times when it's nice to watch other people crash for a change, like when the former chief editor of MO crashed into his brother and went off that cliff by the Rock Store. Now THAT was a crash....

Hahaha, crashing is good for the soul. Just ask me...
