How would the XR compare to the, now dead, Street Rod? Seems like a similar concept...

I did a quick check of an old Motorcyclist article and all the Storz parts (including fancy wave rotors and such) cost about 14 grand. You could omit a few things and save some cash and have a gorgeous bike.

The tail section on the new XR looks like it was ripped from an old Jap sportbike.

I wonder how many Boat Tail Super Glide bikes are still around. I saw one in a little HD shop a few years ago. I liked it, especially the USA #1 color scheme.

Well I haven't priced it out but figure you could buy a used 883 for 5 grand or less it would leave plenty of dough to do this!

...is a pretty collectable bike now-a-days. Back in the 80's I had a chance to buy a Boat Tail rear section complete with seat in almost showroom condition for something like $50 or so. I wish I'd have done now, I'd figure a way of mounting it on my '05 Superglide and scrounge up a front fender and two into one pipe, paint the tank to match and have a pretty snazzy lookin' Dyna...
