Please have that thing removed from the Chicago area ASAP! It is bringing the home prices down!

Have fun on your new scoot.

You can have on all the safety gear in the world, and it won't do squat if you come up against a speeding SUV or freeking Honda Civic. It seems to be a case if your number is up or not. This is from a rider with 35+ years in the saddle, who is now wheelchair bound after being struck from behind by some goofball in a speeding Hyundai Santa Fe. (the ignomy of being struck by a low-end SUV was bad enough).

Just remember there will always be worse things than dying.

Your comment is right on target: we can't control everything. I am still searching for that balance between enjoying the ride and doing the safe things right. I'm sorry to hear that you are wheelchair bound, but glad that you are active in this forum. Your mind is not bound, and neither is your spirit. Keep your input coming. With 35+ years of biking, you can offer us a wealth of practical knowledge. Thanks for responding.

Lord, Gil- don't encourage him!

He can really get "out there" when he's off his Meds!

I'm planning on going there this summer (2.5 hrs. from Charlotte). Have you ridden on it?
Yeah, I've ridden the BRP. Let me tell you - the Park Rangers have absolutely no sense of humour.

The "flow" of the curves is so good it's easy to speed (plus the low speed limit), so watch yourself. Of course, most ANY two-lane road in that area is fantastic.

Another good eatin' place is this little BBQ joint in Cashiers, NC. Can't 'member its name, but ask anyone there and they'll be able to point you to it (or follow the scent of some mighty fine 'Q to its source!).
