I was going to bad mouth this thing, but then a light went on. This is the same thing as a 32 Highboy with disc brakes an a fuel injected small block..... all the cool old parts with all the mod cons.

I am getting some weird déjà vu. Haven’t we already seen comments on this topic? Either I am hallucinating, or the drivel must have got pretty bad. As I remember I was commending HD for its decision to stick to the concept of one front disc as we are in the fashion accessory business now.

You're right, there are two threads. The comments are in the other thread. I'll merge the two.

If it just had a V-4!

But then it'd still be dull as ditch water.

I like apey hangers, wouldn't ride without them on a Harley. My Sportster had drag bars on it but the first one I built had a 4 over springer, 4 in. risers and Z bars. I didn't have the shock absorber on the springer though and after I greased the pivots it was like riding a pogo stick. I went to a 6 over Superglide front end with 6 inch risers and Sportster Buckhorns which worked out pretty good.

The bars on this feller appear to be the same as the FXDWG which is what I have on mine, I think they're a 12 in. rise which for me is just about right and as high as you really want to go and still have good control of the bike.

I think this one, the Vrod engined Night Rod Special and the blacked out Sportster are really sharp looking and I'm glad they came out with this style. I think the Rocker's a real pooch and won't be around long, this style has been around forever and though the black painted oil tank, springer and rims originally represented the cheaper low compression FL version of the Knuckles and Pans as opposed to the whizz-bang chromed out and high compression FLH versions now-a-days it just looks good and a nice counter point to the butt floss billet and chrome cataloug customs

I rode that Street Bob for a few months when we did the MO test, and I HATED those apes. Cruising down the highway at 80 to 90 and I was hanging on for my life with those things. Low speed control sucked, and all I could think about was how much better than bike would be with a set of low risers and drags. Can't see how you like them things.

A Softail Springer I rode for a while had midsized apes. It's fun around town, but like LR said, anything above 60 or so was no fun at all. At least your pits stay cool...

With mine my arms are straight out and my hands even with my shoulders. I have arthritis in my lower back so the more upright I can sit the better, with the apes and forward controls I just kick back and fly, 80 or 90's no problem.

The beauty of Harley's is you can dial them in, don't like apes? there's a dozen different style bars and risers to choose from, one of them is bound to work!

Well maybe he never exceeds 50. Go too fast and the braided armpits can get pretty nasty.

Apehangers are like struts. They are kinda fun..... once.
