If you're coming down to Kill Whitey and take my STUFF, can you stop in Hickory NC and get me some of that "Cabin Gold" STUFF they're growing up there? It's not for me, you understand. Somebody I know has terminal cancer and she'd really enjoy it.

Thanks, and don't forget to bring plenty o' ammo! They's still a HEAP-O-WHITEFOLKS down hea.

Great thread. I went to a Harley dealer and they waned to charge me $1,000 over MSRP, plus $3500 freight and setup. Then, I went to a Yamaha dealership. Saw a blacked out Raider. They offered a $2,500 discount and only $100 for freight and setup plus a free extended arranty. I like Harley's, but there's a point when you gotta say - "what the f..." The Raider is in my garage as of yesterday.

There we go! Finally a post without an estimate or a hypotheses or a theory. Instead, here's data and info about exactly how much each bike costs out the door. I'm happy, cuz this lends creedence to MO's assertion that the Raider is the winner.

However, the Harley die-hards might suspect our newly arriving Mr. Infinity might be a plant from Yamaha!

I worked for Boehm in '98, the year the stupefyingly awesome R1 debuted. The same year that Motorcyclist/Boehm picked the VFR800 Interceptor as Bike of the Year. Nice bike, but it certainly wasn't my vote!

Default Don't work for Yammie!

Nope, I don't work for Yamaha. I own three bikes now - an 04 Honda VFR, 07 Yamaha FJR and now an 08 Raider. I guess you can say I am predisposed to Japanese bikes, but I have for the first time been actually looking at Harley's with increased interest. I've been very impressed with their Night Rod with the 240 rear, Buell with Rotax engine and now the Rocker. I live in Franklin, TN and visited Harley of Cool Springs. Bottom line, Harley still has work to do if they want my hard-earned buck! I think Yamaha and Suzuki are doing the coolest stuff right now on the Japanese side. Even though the M109R is a little too Buck Rogers for me, I respect their effort. Honda hasn't launched a new or interesting product in forever - I used to be a Honda nut, but no longer.

Best,
Michael
