Nice writeup man. Love to read about trippin on a bike. Keep up the good work. Looking foreward to part 2.

Great read, Joe, I have always wanted to mingle with the DKW's MZ's and other Eastern European stuff, that puts you in a time machine. Did you see any Trabants rattling around? Or ZIL's? Wonder is there's a place where you go, after you die, where everyone ridea a Perak and drives a Tatra...?

Trabants alive and kicking
Though not that many of them are still around. They all are 20+ years old by now and you have to wonder how they pass tech inspection anyway. Most dudes driving them seem to be art school types....

Well, cardboard does have this tendency to disintegrate when left out in the rain.........:D

But resin impregnated cloth, quazi fiberglass that was also toxic, so you can't bury a trabbi in a landfill. East Germany had these things poisoning the groundwater.

But it was the excess polution of the smoky two-stroke engine, that really makes one want to own a Trabbi. Ideling Trabants where known to gag people stuck in traffic, and made pedestrians back away. Wafting toxic clouds of rancid Trabant exhaust became enfused in everything, the clothes, the hair, the food, And they weren't burning the best two stroke oil either, just anything they could find. Crisco at 10.1. Christ, with trabbis around it must have been like living in a diesel submarine.

Well, they had to dispose of all that excess Dioxin somehow - might as well make use of it an' put it in the oil an' car-body resin.........

(I was told they made 'em out of about anything they could press-into the molds, old clothes, old feed sacks, asorted trash, an' ESPECIALLY cardboard/paper waste 'cuz it was cheap an' easy to come by, an' very strong when "resin'd-up".)

Great write up....1 comment, and 1 question.

You mentioned nothing else on the planet can easily do 160 mph fully loaded....Not according to C-14 forums. It seems like the big beemer has some competition....I have seen a couple of posts that claims the new Connie does a rock solid 150.

Also you mentioned "September" nights...I assume you meant to write August nites...unless you did this ride last year!
