I was tootling around the Honda website just now, and I see absolutely nothing that catches my eye. Except for maybe the 'Wing if I wanted a boat there isn't anything really interesting there. It seems to me their line up has gone rather stale.
I know it's been said before, I just needed to vent a little. |

Honda has really faded since Soichiro passed.

Obviously you have a very discerning eye and impeccable taste.
I've been wondering why I have a lot of personal animus against Honda. After all I did buy an '80 GL1100 recently. So I don't entirely hate Honda. I can't blame it on that abysmal Magna I've got because I've had plenty of bikes by other companies that were as bad or worse (Norton!). And Yamaha's lineup is if anything even more boring than Honda's. I think my animus stems from a feeling of betrayal. Back in the 60s, 70's and early 80's Honda was the indisputable leader of the industry. Each year I waited to see what new thing Honda was going to lay on us. But more recently Honda has just become a fat lazy corporation that is incapable of trying anything without a meeting of the entire Board of Directors. Honda follows the industry now, it doesn't lead. Not one of their current choice of slick competent machines could ever entice me off of my rough-on-the-edges garish green ZRX1100. Certainly not the 919zzzz........ Honda lost its soul as far as I'm concerned. There's not one segment of motorcycle design that someone else isn't better at. Especially now with the demise of the V-4. Duck and Suzuki make better sport twins. Suzuki and Yamaha make better sportbikes. Everyone else make better sport tourers. Honda doesn't even bother with dual purpose (well, just 1 this year) or supermotards or Adventure Tourers in the USA. Gold Wings are no longer motorcycles but barges. Their prices are inflated. If they quit selling motorcycles at all I couldn't care less. They put me to sleep. I'd miss none of them.

Honda offers the best in 1990's models over any other manufacturer.

They lost their balls long ago. They take no chances and make no dares. They are just livin fat, dumb, and happy. They were the Heavyweight Champ for many years, but the champ is now over the hill. I loved my CBX. Had 2 GoldWings too. The new Wing doesn't do a thing for me, and the rest of their lineup is worse. Too bad the King is dead.

I loved my Norton too. When it was running.

I liked my Hondas too, they were reliable quality machines. But then my newest one was a '94 Magna and I was 20 when I got it. In that respect I was just happy to have a decent bike unlike that clapped out '79 XS 650 Special I nursed back to health in high school.

I dunno, Honda has produced some real turkeys, along with leading edge stuff. Take the '73 CR125/250 versus the '82 CR450...
But (and it's a big butt) I agree that Honda has gotten kind of boring lately. Too many thumbs in too many pies. Like I've said before, pretty soon it will be Honda houses, and Honda lawns. Honda planes, Honda lawnmowers, Honda aquariums, Honda hot tubs, Honda washers & dryers. Honda garage door openers, Honda televisions, Honda frozen dinners... Phew, gotta stop mixing stoli in the cranberry juice...
