Guevara was a murderer and does not deserve any discussion or accolades for riding around South America.

This is an engaging and entertaining story if one can avoid dwelling on what Guevara became later on. A very interesting take on this story can be found in Patrick Symmes' book, "Chasing Che".
Symmes attempts to re-trace the jouney chronicled in the diaries on a BMW. It is a facinating story, and focuses much more on the motorcycling aspect than the diaries. He does not glorify the legend, in fact quite the opposite, but in the process he begins to understand the transformation of an idealistic medical student, Ernesto Guevara into the murderous revolutionary, Che. |
