The site is better but the forums are confusing. Just because you can program some new features does not mean you should. I noticed that Victory is missing from the manufactures column and that some reader feed back has been lost.

The old site was all about the Forum but the new site is all about ad placement. I wish we could have at least kept the old Forum module intead of this new standard one. Yes it now does look a lot like all the other sites and not in a good way.

I like the new format but the forum isn't as much fun as it used to be. Too much work for a little bit of fun.

After messing with it a few days I think we need a function where the news articles can be found in the order they were submitted. This having to keep track of so many different locations is a bit wearing.

I agree. Also, the forum should not be compressed in the middle of the page, it makes it harder to read.

I'm with many others on this one...
the site is great and I appreciate the work that went into it but the forum is crap. I can't follow anything, there's no discussion going on, and I feel like I'm missing out on a bunch of topics. I hope there will be some kind of News articles posted almost daily like the old site that we can all read and comment on. This would be a good way to get everyone involved in one area while also being able to participate in side discussions in the forum of our interest.
That being said, there's a circle jerk in the Member's Lounge at noon today...

Default Forum layout won't change - $$$

I suspect the reason for the Byzantine forum layout and the 400-clicks-to-read-a-thread set-up is to pump up pageviews to show the advertisers. Can't blame MO for that - they're in business to make money, not maintain a community - but it's sad nonetheless.

See, I didn't know if you replied to my post or just posted a new post. Had to switch from linear to hybrid mode, then jump through hoops 6, 7, and 8 all while drinking water while standing on my head to find out. Someone with zero knowledge of computers should design the forum.
Also, some say Mencken was a bit dramatic at times. Some also have much wool over their eyes.
