and if the young guys could afford them, they couldnt afford the insurance. $5000 a year for a 600?

Holy Christ. My Sporty is a bit over $150/year. Of course, I can only ride half the year, so that's effectively $300.

My Bandit 600 is even cheaper.

Not everything about middle age sucks.

The only young buyers that can truly afford a sport bike have to pay cash and carry liability only and effectively self insure for comp and collision. If they can't do that, they can't afford the bike. Not many young buyers fit that profile. Drug dealers perhaps. Saw such a transaction go down in Long Beach when I lived there. Stereotypical scary looking drug dealer type walked into the Kawi dealer and plunked down a large stack of cash for a new ZX10. It was like a scene out of a movie.

Hey wait, I thought if Harley didn't start making sport bikes that young people wanted to buy, they would go out of business.

Who is buying 600cc sport bikes?

Well, one-less drug dealer in the world......

Wait. I thought drug dealers only bought Harleys.

The customers buy Harleys. The dealers are on pimped out Hayabusas, with NO2 tanks strapped to the swingarms.

Perhaps Honda needs to rethink it's age old marketing image about meeting nice people...

Somehow I'm not disappointed in never seeing these guys around SLC. Not that we don't have drug dealers. They just keep a low profile.

The ones around here seem to knock each other off on a fairly regular basis...kind of a public service really.

I don't know that they're riding modified sport bikes though you see a few of them around........the bikes i mean, not the druggies.

If the bike nights in my area are representative, the answer is "douchebags."
