I've got mixed feelings about the small-displacement class getting bigger. On the one hand, it's sensible and welcome. Especially in places like New England, small sporty bikes are a hoot. On the other hand, it's discouraging that it's motivated primarily by a crap economy and exploding gas prices. I don't want to see American streets populated by swarms of 250's and scooters with chicken cages strapped to them.

It's a shame that such a nice-looking bike is let down by so many flaws. When Hyosung had a huge price differential with the competition they could get away with that. But as the article points out: with the Ninja 300 and CBR250R available for a marginal price bump, why would you buy this?

We met a Hyosung executive at Bike Week two years ago and came away impressed with his vision of where his company was going in the US market. But, based on this article and a shootout between the 3 bikes mentioned in one of the recent print mags, Hyosung is not delivering on the vision.

The Koreans can build good stuff. Hyundai has come a long way, and of course Samsung makes really good stuff. Hyosung will get there, eventually. The fairing is an obvious Hayabusa rip off though.

4K can buy a decent bike in the used market though, for example a clean used 1st Gen Yamaha FZ1 with reasonable miles. A new 250 with quirky issues simply does not compute in my value oriented world.
