A very enjoyable article. It reminds me of riding the woods in Ohio as a young man. It is a smart strategy to include potential riders from other disciplines. Honda is doing the right thing there. The differences in street riding and dirt riding you highlight remind me that if I ever get back to riding in the dirt I will definitely need to bone up my skill set. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the kudos
I was nervous as hell when I started, but the guys at Trail Tours really were excellent teachers. I'm still a pretty poor rider, but it was more fun than I expected. A little dual sport like that woule make a great commuter bike for me, but then I'd have to go and get a proper motorcycle licence and convince my wife I needed to buy a bike.

One thing I left out of the story is that I managed not to fall at all for the two days of riding...until the 10-minute ride back to the staging area before we went home when I went down twice in some deep sand. I'd like to think it was because the tires didn't hook up well, but I didn't see anybody else fall so my general lack of skill was likely to blame. After the second fall (fortunately the sand was very soft and deep, so no bruises), I sheepishly handed the bike over to my camera guy and rode the ATV the rest of the way. Not my proudest moment.
